William H. “Bill” Homeyer, 87, Nebr. City passed away August 24, 2022.
William Howard Homeyer was born on July 11, 1935 Nebr. City; the son of Eugene B. and Helen E. (McCallum) Homeyer. He attended school and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1953. He later entered the United States Army on January 29, 1957 and honorably and faithfully served his country until his honorable discharge on September 24, 1959.
He was united in marriage to Lorraine G. Webber on June 18, 1961 at the Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse, NE.
Bill worked for the Otoe County Bridge Crew as Foreman in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He then worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads. He was a Feed Salesman for MoorMan’s Feed and Ranch Supply Company for several years and worked extensively with Dr. Jim Billups on Cattle Genetics. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, a life-time member of the Eagles and enjoyed many activities including bowling, hunting, fishing and Nebraska Football.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorraine Homeyer of Nebr. City; a son Brad J. Homeyer (Shay) of Rulo, NE, daughter Erin A. Homeyer Sizemore of Council Bluffs, IA; six grandchildren: Lindsey Marie Roman, Caitlynn Nicole Homeyer, Brooke Ryann Homeyer, Broc Nathan Homeyer, Maximus Samuel
Sizemore and Jake Cockle; four great-grandsons: Uriah Homeyer, Jakobi Green, Atticus Roman and Sawyer Roman; brother-in-law Charles D. Webber of Marian, IA; other family and many friends. Preceded in death by son Brian W. Homeyer and parents Eugene and Helen Homeyer.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebr. City with Pastor Theresa Brezenski officiating. Burial will follow in Wyuka Cemetery with military honors.
The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday (8/25) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City. Memorials to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Nebr. City, NE.
