Beede Outdoors will host its annual Open House beginning at 5 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday, Aug. 23) at 2404 E Rd.
Owner Matt Beede visited the Nebraska City Rotary Club on Aug. 13 to discuss his operation, which offers upland bird hunts and shooting clays, as well as raising game birds and training hunting dogs.
Beede said he has been in business for 12 years and at his Syracuse location for four years. He said guests from 37 states and three countries have come to hunt on his property this year, and his business employs five full-time guides and 12 independent contractors who also serve as guides for hunts.
During hunting season, which runs from Sept. 1 to April 15, Beede said his business hosts 12 hunts seven days a week for pheasant and chukar.
Beede said 90 percent of the birds go home with hunters. If a hunter doesn’t want to take home the birds, Beede said they are donated. The meat is made into snack sticks, and the feathers are sold for fly fishing lures.
His 460-acre facility has a new clubhouse, which will officially open during the Open House, and his hunts are booked out two to three years in advance currently.
Beede said he offers shooting clays opportunities during the non-hunting season from April 15 to Aug. 1, and his business also provides youth programs.
