The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to welcome to Brownville, QuartetES. Made up of established chamber musicians who reunited after a long separation, QuartetES brings a diverse and engaging presence to the concert stage. It’s sure to be one you won’t want to miss! The show will be in concert Sunday, April 6th at 2:00pm. We give special thanks to Jane Rohman for helping to sponsor this show. Following the performance, there will be a reception across the street at the Muir house that will be open to all patrons in attendance.
QuartetES has been in residence since 2017 at Point CounterPoint Chamber Music in Vermont. 2018 saw their debut international performance at Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland. In 2019 they were in residence at the Harpa International Music Academy as well as New Music for Strings in Reykjavik. In 2021 they embarked on an ambitious project for The Uncertainty of Fate Festival: they commissioned 18 pieces by established as well as emerging composers, which they recorded over four days during the pandemic. Recent concerts include their Lincoln’s Symphony debut, performing Jessie Montgomery’s “Banner” for Quartet and Orchestra in October 2021 as well as appearances in California, Nashville, and Oregon. Upcoming premieres include Elena Ruehr’s Tenth and Eleventh String Quartet.
Anton Miller, violin: Anton gave his Carnegie Hall concerto debut in 1992. He has appeared throughout the world as a soloist, chamber musician, recitalist, and pedagogue. He has performed over fifty violin concertos with a number of orchestras on four continents.
Ertan Torgul, violin: Ertan has enjoyed an eclectic musical path as a recitalist, chamber musician, soloist, concertmaster, and teacher, touring around the world and collaborating with some of today’s most sought-after musicians, conductors and ensembles.
Rita Porfiris, viola: Rita is praised by “USA Today” for her “richness of tone and impeccable articulation and for the warmth and subtlety of her phrasing” violist Rita Porfiris has performed in major concert halls across the globe as a chamber musician, orchestral musician, and soloist.
Jennifer Kloetzel, cello: A graduate of The Juilliard School and a Fulbright Scholar, cellist Jennifer Kloetzel has concertized throughout the United States, Europe and Asia as a soloist and chamber musician. Ms. Kloetzel is noted for her elegant playing and her vibrant tone. The Cello Museum proclaimed that her “energy, ceaseless intellectual curiosity, and virtuosic command of the instrument unite in exceptional musicianship, making her truly a hero of the cello.”
