Jeanene F. Pummel, 62, of Nebraska City

Jeanene F. Pummel, age 62 of Nebraska City, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

Jeanene was born on Aug. 29, 1957 in Nebraska City; the daughter of A.J. and Dorothy Lee (Tuton) Jones.  She attended school in Union and Nebraska City, graduating from Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1976.

On Sept. 12, 1976 she was united in marriage to Michael D. “Mike” Pummel in Union.

Jeanene worked for the Nebraska City Street Department for some 17 years and was very active in her community.  She volunteered for the Nebraska City Rescue Squad and served as the Chief for several years.  She was a member of Cornerstone Church.

Survivors include her husband Mike Pummel of Nebraska City; three children:  Shannon Bolton (Gregory) of Nebraska City, Cory Pummel (Gabrielle) of Auburn, and Mary Clark (Michael) of Lincoln; ten grandchildren:  Isaah, Alexis, Caitlin and Madison Bolton; Logan, Macey and Elijah Dean Pummel; Kyra, Jordan, and Izabella Clark; 1 great-grandchild Paisley Bolton and another due in October; mom Dorothy Jones of Nebraska City; siblings:  Gaille Brown of Union, Arley J. Jones of Nebraska City and Dana Brink (Aaron) of Nebraska City; other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her dad on July 15, 1995 and brother Robert Jones, Sr. on Aug. 3, 2012

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Cornerstone Church west of Nebraska City.  In accordance with Cornerstone Church guidelines, at the memorial service masks are required.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday (June 5) at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.

Memorials may be directed to Nebraska City Rescue Squad or Cancer Research.
