Popcorn Day 2021: ‘Hamburg USA-Poppin Proud’

The Southeast Nebraska Community Band provided musical entertainment on Saturday afternoon at the Hamburg City Park.
The Finnell Family entry, driven by Jackie Rollins and pulled by Sir Thomas the Black Gypsy Vanner, concluded this year’s Big Parade.
The Arbor Shrine Club of Nebraska City took part in the 2021 Popcorn Day Big Parade.
This year’s Popcorn Day fell on Sept. 11, and this float incorporated the observance of Patriot Day in its design.
Uncle Sam was featured on several floats in this year’s parade.
Hamburg Middle School’s entry reflected the 2021 Popcorn Day theme, “Hamburg USA - Poppin Proud.”
“The Pride” of Sidney High School was one of the bands taking part in this year’s Popcorn Day Big Parade.
Members of the Hubert Woodward American Legion Post 156 served as the 2021 Popcorn Day Grand Marshals.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Sidney served as the lead-off color guard for the 2021 Popcorn Day Big Parade as the Hamburg American Legion Post was honored as this year’s parade Grand Marshals.
The flagpole on Main Street was the target for a noontime pingpong ball drop. Those who collected either a gold ball or an orange pumpkin with a number on it won prizes, which could be collected following the Big Parade.
Inflatables on Main Street gave kids the chance to play darts or bounce in one of two bounce houses.
Roxanna Snyder was selected as the 2021 Popcorn Queen, and Rease Reafleng was chosen as the 2021 Popcorn Princess. All the queen and princess candidates rode together on a float in the Big Parade.
