Mike’l Severe will be the new host of “Big Red Wrap-Up” when it returns to NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR stations, in August.

The popular television series will bring another season of in-depth analysis and highlights of Husker football games, plus recruiting insights and special guests.

Severe looks forward to carrying on that tradition during the 2019 football season and bringing his opinions to the state’s only live and interactive Husker television program. He’ll offer insight to Coach Scott Frost’s offense and in-depth football conversations.

And as a self-proclaimed “footballoholic” he is excited to talk about the Xs and Os and recruiting.

“Nebraska people are really smart football people,” he said. “They like to hear what has happened on the white board.”

He is honored to follow host Kevin Kugler and looks forward to interacting with Husker fans.

“We’re excited to have Mike’l join ‘Big Red Wrap-Up’ this fall as our new host.” said the show’s producer Gavin Felix. “Not only does he have a great presence on-air, but his knowledge on this Nebraska Football team runs deep. It’ll add more to the in-depth analysis that audiences have come to expect from ‘Big Red Wrap-Up’.”

Severe has covered Husker football and watched the show since moving to Nebraska in 2002.

He worked for nearly 20 years as a sports and news reporter, from New Orleans to Albuquerque to Omaha in 2002 at KETV-7. In 2004, Severe started in radio co-hosting "Unsportsmanlike Conduct." After more than decade working at the Zone, Severe helped start “The Bottom Line” radio show in March of 2014 at the “Omaha World Herald.”  “The Bottom Line” covers news, sports and entertainment Monday thru Friday on AM 590 ESPN Omaha.

Viewers can catch the NET Sports weekly television series when it airs Tuesdays starting Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. CT on NET World and 10 p.m. CT on NET. “Big Red Wrap-Up” can also be viewed live online at netNebraska.org/bigreadwrapup, on Facebook Live at facebook.com/bigredwrapup or on the NET Nebraska App.
