With the Pioneers down by one point, and with five seconds on the clock, Bryce Levy hit two clutch free throws to give the Pioneers a 50-49 win on Tuesday, Jan. 8.
Nebraska City’s largest lead of the night was six points, but Conestoga seemed to have an answer each time NC attempted to build a lead.
The Pioneers were ahead, 8-5, in the first period, and with time winding down, Eli Southard hit a three pointer to give NC an 11-5 advantage.
In the second quarter, with the Pioneers up by two, Clay Stovall nailed a three pointer to increase the lead to, 21-16, and at the end of the half, Logan Hoover hit a field goal to put NC up 23-19.
Jordan Williams got going for Nebraska City in the third period by scoring eight points.  
And, with Nebraska City ahead 33-32, Langston Hoover hit a two-point bucket to put the lead at three entering the fourth period, 35-32.
With the score tied, 41-41, Williams came away with a huge block that resulted in Bryce Levy receiving the ball on the wing and hitting a three. NC led, 44-41, with 2:30 remaining in the game.
The Cougars’ Kobe Gansemer, hit back-to-back threes to give Conestoga its first lead of the night, 47-46, with over a minute remaining.
Nebraska City got the lead back when Williams made two-point field goal. The Pioneers led by one with under a minute left.
With 30 seconds left, the Pioneers were called for a foul and Lane Fox made both free-throws to give the Cougars a one point lead, 49-48.
As the Pioneers tried to in-bound the ball, Bryce Levy was fouled with 5.7 seconds on the clock.  Levy knocked down both free-throws, and, on a last second shot, the Cougars could not get the ball to fall as the Pioneers won  50-49 and picked up their second victory on the year.
Williams led the way with 17 points; Stovall, nine; Langston Hoover, eight; Bryce Levy, seven; Southard, four; Logan Hoover, three; Braden Thompson, two.
Nebraska City (2-10) will be at Gretna (8-1) on Friday, Jan. 11.

Auburn 65, NC 49
The Pioneers boys hit nine threes in their, 65-49, loss to the Auburn Bulldogs on Saturday, Jan. 5 at NC.
Nebraska City hit three straight threes to start the first quarter.  Eli Southard and Jordan Williams each added two threes in the first period.  
With the score tied 12-12, Braden Thompson hit a three, and with time running out, Logan Hoover got fouled on a three point shot.
He made all of his free throws, and the Pioneers led 18-15 at the half.
Bryce Levy started the second quarter by driving in and getting the field goal to put the Pioneers up four.  
Auburn tied the game, 20-20, and Williams broke the tie with a three.  
Trailing 34-30 in the second, Logan Hoover was fouled for the second time shooting a three, and again, made all three free-throws, and NC trailed, 34-33, at the half.
Nebraska City trailed by five with 5:30 left in the third, when Bryce Levy nailed a three pointer to get within two.
Auburn went on a 13-1 run to end the third period and led the Pioneers, 53-39.
In the fourth the Pioneers tried to get back in it with a three pointer from Thompson and a three-point play from Bryce Levy after getting fouled.  Mason Hamilton hit two free throws at the end, but regrettably, the Pioneers lost 65-49.
