The Lourdes Central Knights ended it's regular season on a positive note, after winning a Triangular event that was hosted by the Knights on Tuesday, October 23.

Coach Michelle Kreifels was more than pleased to get these wins, especially on a night that Seniors, Natalie Wright and Jacey Kreifels, played their last home game.

During the second set against Sterling, the Knights battled, but came away with the win, and won the Triangular.  “I’m glad we could get this done in two (sets), with the emotions of senior night,” Coach Kreifels said.

After the win, an emotional Jacey Kreifels, who hit milestones this season with 1000 career assists and 1000 career digs, was pleased to come out on top on Tuesday.  “I have all sorts of emotions right now,” Jacey said.  “I’m very happy to be playing the game I love with my best friends, but it is very sad that this is my last year.”

Senior, Natalie Wright, expressed that the night was bitter-sweet.  “I’m really glad we won on senior night,” Wright said.  “It’s sad that it’s our last home game, but I’m happy that we won.”

The Knights ended the year with a 16-15 record.  Coach Kreifels said she expected to have a few more wins, but the Knights faced stiff competition this season including teams like Syracuse, who are 23-2 on the year, and Freeman, who the Knights competed with, and possibly could have won.  If the Knights can get through their sub-district, there is a chance they could meet up with Freeman.

This season was full of ups and downs, but the Knights played hard, and competed.  ”That credit goes to the girls,” Coach Kreifels said.  “They work hard at practice every day.  Hopefully we are playing our best volleyball come next week.”
