The Nebraska City Post 8 seniors showed no signs of a hang over from last night's loss to Mount Michael, as Jacob Shannon shut down Valparaiso by throwing a complete game no-hitter on Sunday, July 22, at Ashland.

Nebraska City jumped out first with a 1-0 lead in the first inning after Garrett Bassinger, who had five RBI this game, hit a single to score Dylan Knoell.

In the top of the third, Jace Becker was on second base.  Bryce Levy came to plate and crushed a double off the bottom of the left field fence and NC led 2-0.

Shannon had 10 strikeouts in this contest.  In the bottom of the third, Shannon made things easy for the defense as he struck out the side.

Tyler Levy drove a one out single to right field in the fourth inning.  After advancing to second, Knoell hit a solid RBI single and NC led 3-0.  Still in the fourth,  Clay Stovall smacked a single to left field and Trent Fahey walked.  With the bases loaded, Bassinger blasted a double in the gap that scored all three runs.

In the top half of the sixth, Fahey hit a hard ground ball to left field and hustled his way to second base for the double.  Bassinger stepped up and picked up his fifth RBI after hitting a double to center field to increase the NC lead to 8-0.  After a Shannon walk, Max Chaney ripped a line drive RBI single and NC went on to win 9-0.

Nebraska City pounded out 15 hits in this game.  NC has a total of 29 hits in it's last two games.

Bassinger was 3-for-5 with a single, two doubles, run scored, and five RBI.

Hitting: Knoell and Stovall, each had three singles; Fahey, single, double; Chaney, two singles; Bryce Levy, double; Tyler Levy, single.

RBI: Bryce Levy, Knoell, and Chaney, each had one.

Runs scored: Knoell and Fahey, two each; Jace Becker, Shannon, Stovall, and Tyler Levy, one each.

Shannon got the win for NC.  Shannon allowed no runs and no hits, while striking out 10, in seven innings of work.

Nebraska City picked up it's 16th win on the year.
