In the first round of district action, the Nebraska City pitching staff led by Dylan Knoell and Ethan Seyler, shut out Lincoln Teckmeyer 9-0 on Friday, July 20, at Ashland.

Knoell started the contest and allowed one hit while striking out four in three innings of work.  Seyler finished the game and surrendered one hit, in four innings, and struck out six.

“They have done exactly what they have done all year,” Coach Widoe said.  “Dylan has really filled in those gaps for us and Ethan keeps doing what Ethan does.  He continues to throw a lot of strikes and continues to keep guys off balance.  I’m really proud of both of them.”

Nebraska City got it done with the bats as well when Jace Becker hit a triple to right field that scored Garrett Bassinger and Clay Stovall in the first inning.  Alex Breazile stepped up next and drove in Becker on a hard single, and NC led 3-0.

In the bottom of the second, and the score 4-0, Knoell drove a single to center field to score Tyler Levy.
With two runners on in the fifth inning, Bryce Levy smacked a two RBI single to right field and NC had a comfortable 7-0 lead.

Trent Fahey came up to the plate in the bottom half of the sixth and with a runner on base, Fahey crushed a HR to left field as the Post 8 Seniors went on to win 9-0.

Coach Widoe said that first win is huge because it keeps your team in the winners bracket and allows you to control your own destiny.
