Dylan Knoell smacked a three RBI triple in the fourth inning that proved to be a key factor in the Nebraska City Post 8 Senior 8-7 win on Wednesday, June 6, at Clemmy Holmes Field.
Nebraska City led 8-2 as Seward came to the plate for it’s last at bat. Seward fought back to get within one run. With two runners on base, and two outs, NC pitcher, Ethan Seyler, struck out the last hitter and NC won 8-7 to pick up it’s third win on the season.
In the bottom of the second inning, Jace Becker led off with a walk. Becker found his way to third base after a passed ball and that’s when Alex Breazile singled up the middle and NC took a 1-0 lead.
Garrett Bassinger broke up a tied ball game in the third after hitting a two-run HR to center field to put NC on top, 3-1.
Leading 3-2, Clay Stovall, who was 3-for-3 in this contest, hit a RBI single to score Bryce Levy and take a two-run lead.
With the bases loaded and one out, Knoell hit a triple to left field that scored all three runs. Bassinger scored Knoell on a sacrifice RBI and NC lead 8-2.
A couple of errors in the seventh inning kept Seward in the game, but NC was able to hold on and get the win.
Stovall was 3-for-3 with three singles, one run scored, and on RBI.
