Benningtons' Schumacher, hit a solo HR in the fourth inning that started a four run inning, as Nebraska City Post 8 Seniors lost 6-3 on Tuesday, June 5, at Nebraska City.

Starters Tyler Levy and Eli Southard, were both injured coming into this contest.  Levy was available for pinch running duties, and Southard did not play.

Garrett Bassinger started on the hill for NC, and was cruising heading into the top of the fourth.  Schumacher led off the inning with a HR to center field.  Bennington added an RBI single, a sacrifice RBI, and another run on an infield single by Essink.

Bassinger settled down in the next two innings, but hit his pitch max in the sixth.

With the score 6-0 favoring Bennington, NC got on the board in the bottom half of the sixth when Bassinger hit a line-drive single to score Dylan Knoell. Max Chaney came to the plate later in the inning and hit a deep fly ball to center to score Alex Breazile, and NC trailed 6-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Jace Becker lead off with a double followed by sacrifice fly ball by Bryce Levy to advance Becker to third.  Ethan Seyler hit a deep fly ball out as Becker tagged from third and scored to get within three.  Nebraska City would ground out on the next play as Bennington won 6-3.

Bennington scored six runs on eight hits and no errors.
Nebraska City had five hits, three runs, and two errors.

Schumacher got the win for Bennington.
Bassinger took the loss for NC.
Hitting for NC: Bassinger, two singles; Becker, double; Knoell and Stovall, each with a single.

RBI: Bassinger, Chaney, and Seyler, one each.

Nebraska City is now 2-6 on the summer.

Nebraska City will be at home to face Seward, tomorrow, June 6, at Clemmy Holmes Field, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
