For the third year in a row, the Knights are headed back to the state finals, and, with a win, the Knights will be the only team in D1 history to win three titles in a row. Lourdes pushed past Paxton at Lincoln Northeast High School behind Thomas Raglands 22 point day on Thursday, March 8, and downed Johnson-Brock on Friday, March 9, as Brandon Fredrichs scored 24 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Thomas Ragland put on a show as he scored 22 points in Lourdes' 63-57 victory in the first round of the state tournament and handed the Paxton Tigers their second loss of the year, Thursday, March, 8 at Lincoln Northeast.
Ragland scored the first ten points in the first quarter as the Knights led 19-7.  Ragland hit two more three’s in the second quarter along with a three by Quinten Vasa and a two point basket by Brandon Fredrichs to give the Knights a  30-26 halftime lead.
Paxton came out in the third quarter and hit a three point shot to get within one.  Lourdes went on a 7-0 run and, after a two point basket by Fredrichs, the Knights had a comfortable 47-36 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Tigers would not go away easy.  Paxton cut into the lead 54-51.  After a two point bucket by Jack Funke, and a basket by Fredrichs, the Knights led by six with a minute and a half left.
Down the stretch, Quentin Vasa was 5-of-7 from the free throw line to keep the Tigers from any type of come back as Lourdes advanced to the semifinals with a 63-57 win.

Lourdes 55 Johnson-Brock 47

Lourdes Central defeated Johnson-Brock 55-47 in the semifinal game of the Class D1 State Tournament with a 24 point day from Brandon Fredrichs  on Friday, March, 9 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln.
The Knights have not trailed at any point in the first two rounds of the state tournament.  At the end of the third quarter, the Knights led as much as 14 points.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles went on a 10-2 run and trailed the Knights 47-41 until Quinten Vasa and Fredrichs ended the threat by hitting two baskets a piece to increase the score to 51-41 and eventually get the win to make it back to finals for the third year in a row.
Scoring for the Knights were Fredrichs 24; Vasa, 11; Sam Baumert and Jack Funke, six each; Thomas Ragland, five; Ben Miller three.

Lourdes will take on Kenesaw on Saturday, March, 10 at 11 a.m. at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
