Injuries and sickness didn’t stop the Lourdes Central boys’ basketball team as the Knights  won their semifinal round game against Johnson-Brock 56-46 on Thursday, Feb. 1, at the Lourdes school.
Brandon Fredrichs led the Knight team by scoring 20 points.
Flu season has impacted the Lourdes boys.  
With Ben Miller out and other players fighting the virus, the Knights had to step up their game. They did, but not without injury complication.
In the first quarter, Colter Fulton suffered an injury and had to be carried off the court.  
Quinten Vasa, who finished with 12 points, got hot in the second quarter as he hit three straight three pointers in a row to get the Knights on the move and establish a 29-22 halftime lead.
With the Knights leading by nine at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Neilas Tamosiunas drained a three point shot to give the Knights a 12 point lead, 44-32.
Down the stretch, Fredrichs hit key free throws and the Knights won 56-46.

In the championship game of the Pioneer Conference tournament, the Knights faced a tough defense performance by the Irish as Falls City Sacred Heart took home a first place finish on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Lourdes Central Catholic gymnasium.
Ben Miller hit two three pointers in the first quarter to keep the Knights in the game as Lourdes trailed by three at the end of the first.
Lourdes eventually took the lead in the second quarter but at the end of the first half, FCSH went on a 5-0 run and led 21-19 at the break.
The Knights could only muster two points in the third quarter as the Irish tightened up on the defensive side.
With a minute left, and the Knights trailing 38-29, Quinten Vasa made a quick two point shot and on the Irish inbound Neilas Tamosiunas stole the ball and scored to cut the lead to five.
Falls City Sacred Heart hit two free throws down the stretch to seal the game for the Irish.
