Nebraska City Pioneers couldn’t overcome a quick start by the Plattsmouth Bluedevils  losing 46-6 on Friday, Oct. 13.
In the first quarter, Plattsmouth took the opening kickoff and returned the ball to mid- field with a 50 yard return.  
Two plays later, running back Connor Pohlmeier, who had 223 yards rushing in this contest, ran the ball 48 yards for the touchdown to put the Blue Devils up 7-0 with 11:03 in the first quarter.
Plattsmouth scored again with 4:55 in the first when they ran in a touchdown from three yards out to give the Plattsmouth the lead 13-0.
By halftime, the Blue Devils led 19-0.
In the third quarter Bryce Levy connected with Tyler Levy on a 35- yard pass to get the Pioneers to the Plattsmouth 25 yard line but an interception gave the ball back to the Blue Devils.
With four seconds left in the game and the ball on Plattsmouth’s 10 yard line, Bryce Levy found Skylar Self on a slant for a touchdown to avoid the shut out.
Bryce Levy finished with 141 yards passing and a touchdown.
Tyler Levy led in receiving yardage with four catches for 61 yards and Skyler Self had five catches for 39 yards and a touchdown.
Nebraska City will be at home Friday, Oct. 20 for its final home game against Omaha Gross. Kick off is at 7 p.m.
“We are excited to grow as a team and improve throughout this final week of the football season.”  Coach Hempel said.  “Omaha Gross will be a challenge.  As a team, we need to be up for that challenge.”
