Morgan Ferraro of Nebraska City High School will participate in the 23rd annual Nebraska Shrine Soccer Classic at Caniglia Field on the University of Nebraska, Omaha, campus.
The game begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 18. Tickets will be available at the stadium with gates opening at 4:30 pm.
The Nebraska Shrine Soccer Classic is a High School All-Star Soccer Game sponsored by the three Shrine Centers in Nebraska: Sesostris in Lincoln, Tangier in Omaha, and Tehama in Hastings.
Players are nominated by their coaches based on three categories: on-field skills and performance, performance in the classroom and involvement in the community and overall citizenship.
Once nominations are received the coaches gather to select their teams.
The purpose of the game is to raise money to support the Shrine philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Shriners Hospitals provide world class pediatric orthopedic, spinal cord, cleft lip and palate, and burn care to any child under the age of 18 without regard to the patient or family’s ability to pay.
Since 1922 Shriners have cared for over 1 million children. In Nebraska, the three Shrine Centers assist approximately 1000 children annually.
