Ronald Gene (Bud) Reuter, age 85, of Syracuse, passed away on Sunday May 1, 2022. Bud was born on September 22, 1936, to Adolph and Esther (Peterson) Reuter. He lived his entire life in the Dunbar area.

Bud married the love of his life, Marilyn Ahrens, on February 7, 1958. They were blessed with five children and four grandchildren.
Faith was the foundation of Bud’s life. He was a member of the Dunbar Presbyterian Church for 68 years and was the church’s longest living member. Bud served as a church Elder, Sunday school teacher and superintendent, and choir director. Bud and Marilyn sang for many weddings, funerals, and special occasions.

He was also a member of The American Legion Post 100, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Elks Lodge for over 50 years. Bud served on the Dunbar Village Board and was mayor for several years.
Spending time with family and friends was Bud’s joy. He rarely missed any of his children’s or grandchildren’s activities. Baseball is a family favorite and Bud coached his sons’ teams from Little League to Legion. Rod’s American Legion team made it to the State Tournament three times with Bud on the coaching staff.
Bud had a lifetime love of horses and passed it on to his family. He last went on a family ride at the age of 82. Bud enjoyed bowling and held many records at the V-Lanes in Nebraska City. He played endless games of ping pong with the grandkids. He loved driving his tractor, putting up hay, and helping family and friends farm.
