Nebraska City opened the 2025 girls’ soccer season with a 2-1 home set back against Crete on Thursday, March 20.

Neveah Pursey scored a goal for the Pioneers while Miesha Oggs led the team in shots on goal. Kenzie Stoll posted six saves in goal for Nebraska City.

Although the result wasn’t what the Pioneers wanted, Coach Paul Dewey said he felt good about the effort.

“Probably our best first game of the season in a long time,” said Coach Dewey. “We had some disconnection between our midfield and other positions but with time that will get better.

“I feel really confident in the future of this squad because 11 of 15 players that played varsity are freshman or sophomores,” said Dewey. “We were able to connect passes and really moved the ball well at times.”
