Pioneer boys’ tennis claims Trailblazer trophy

The Nebraska City boys’ tennis team won the Trailblazer Conference tournament championship during action at Ralston on Monday, Oct. 7, at Ralston.

Winning first place medals were Sam Ebmeier and Reed Hamling for No. 1 doubles and Gavin Koberstein and Maverick Weninger for No. 2 doubles.

Winning second place medals were Rush Chipman for No. 1 singles, Cutler Adams for No. 2 singles and the No. 3 doubles team of Mitchell Hodges and Jackson Barr.

Match results were as follows:

Ebmeier and Hamling beat Platteview, 6-0 and 6-0, Ralston, 6-0 and 6-2, and Beatrice, 6-2 and 6-0.

Koberstein and Weninger beat Ralston, 5-7. 6-4 (11-9), and Beatrice, 6-0 and 7-5. The duo fell to Platteview, 4-6, 7-6 (10-6).

Barr and Hodges beat Beatrice, 6-0 and 6-2, and Platteview, 7-6 and 6-2. The duo lost to Ralston, 7-5 and 6-0.

Chipman beat Platteview, 6-4 and 6-2, and Ralston, 7-6 (7-5) and 7-6 (7-4). Chipman lost to Beatrice, 6-1 and 6-2.

Cutler Adams beat Beatrice, 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) and Platteview, 6-0 and 6-2. Adams lost to Ralston, 6-1 and 6-3.

Brownell-Talbot Dual

Nebraska City hosted Brownell-Talbot for a dual on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

In doubles action, Sam Ebmeier and Reed Hamling lost 8-3 at No. 1; Gavin Koberstein and Maverick Weninger lost 9-8 at No. 2; and Mitchell Hodges and Jackson Barr lost 8-2 at No. 3.

In singles action, Rush Chipman, No. 1, lost 8-2; Cutler Adams, No. 2, lost 8-1; Sam Ebmeier, No. 3, lost 8-4; Reed Hamling, No. 4, lost 8-3; Maverick Weninger, No. 5, won 8-0; and Mitchell Hodges, No. 6, lost 8-0.

Lincoln Christian Dual

Nebraska City hosted Lincoln Christian for a dual on Thursday, Oct. 10.

In doubles action, Sam Ebmeier and Reed Hamling lost 8-2 at No. 1; Gavin Koberstein and Maverick Weninger lost 8-2 at No. 2; and Mitchell Hoges and Jackson Barr lost 8-4 at No. 3.

In singles action, Rush Chipman, No. 1, lost 8-1; Cutler Adams, No. 2, lost 8-2; Sam Ebmeier, No. 3, lost 8-2; Maverick Weninger, No. 4, lost 8-1; Gavin Koberstein, No. 5, lost 8-2; Mitchell Hodges, No. 6, lost 8-3.
