Patricia Ann Wehling

Patricia “Pat” Ann Wehling, age 82 of Nebraska City passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.

Patricia was born on June 9, 1939, in Le Mars, IA; the daughter of Rowland and Florence (Hill) Heimerdinger. Her family later moved to Nebraska City where she graduated from Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1957.

She was united in marriage to John A. Wehling on April 11, 1969, in North Platte, NE and to this union a son was born: Patrick.

Pat worked as a dental technician in Omaha, NE out of high school before moving back to Nebraska City where she owned and operated Pat’s Party Shop for many years until 1972. After Patrick was born in December of 1973, she then began in home daycare until 1990. Pat then began working alongside her husband, John in the family business, Wehling Insurance Agency. She worked in the insurance business until 2007 when her son Patrick joined the agency. In recent years, Pat had volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital as a Front Desk Volunteer until the hospital stopped the program.

Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she helped organize funeral lunches for many years. She was a Lady Shriner with the Arbor Shriners Club. Pat enjoyed spending time with her family, especially at their cabin and going on pontoon boat rides at Big Lake, MO. Watching her grandchildren’s sporting events was one of her greatest joys. She also enjoyed hosting get togethers for friends. She especially looked forward to card club gatherings. Going to the casinos and traveling were favorite past times. In her later years, she cherished going out to eat with close friends. Pat also had a great love for her two dogs Missy and Coco.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Wehling of Nebr. City; son Patrick Wehling and wife Shannon of Nebr. City; daughter Roxanne Meduna and husband Mark of Wahoo, NE; grandchildren: Evan Wehling, Riley Wehling, Crystal Severin and Jesse Meduna; great-grandchildren: Michael Evans, Markus Severin and Charles Severin; sister-in-law Amelia Lemrick and husband Charles of Percival, IA; cousins: Harold (Karen) Holloway of Omaha, NE and Doug Holloway of California; many friends and other family.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Rowland and Florence Heimerdinger; mother and father-in-law Paul and Alice Wehling; brother-in-law James Wehling and sister-in-law Maxine Wehling. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church in Nebr. City with Rev. Tom Osborne officiating. A luncheon and time of fellowship will be provided immediately after the service.

The family will greet friends on Sunday (2/20) evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.

Memorials may be given to the Shriners Children Hospital.
