The Otoe County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, March 25, and took the following actions:
Appointed Dan Thomson of Palmyra as the Otoe County Surveyor and Otoe County Planning and Zoning Administrator, effective June 2 on the retirement of current Surveyor/Planning and Zoning Administrator Dave Schmitz;
Approved a cross-jurisdictional memorandum of understanding by, between, and among Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, and Richardson counties in Nebraska and Atchison County, Missouri, to facilitate the distribution of warning and alerts sent through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS);
Heard a presentation about broadband updates in the county from Aaron Clark of Nextlink;
Heard a presentation about the county’s new online benefits enrollment plan from Judd Allen, Nebraska Association of Counties (NACO) benefit services representative;
Heard a presentation about available services from Krista Dittman, NACO Medicare representative; and
Discussed road conditions and repair options for approximately 800 feet of Business Highway 75 near its intersection with County Road G.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Otoe County Board of Commissioners is set for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Otoe County Courthouse.
