David Lee Gress, age 70 of Nebraska City died May 27, 2021 at his home. Dave was born December 5, 1950 in Nebraska City, the son of Robert and Pearl Ellen (Bennett) Gress.
He married Romana Ohnmacht January 27, 1995 in Nebraska City.
Dave lived in Nebraska City his entire life and worked several years for the Otoe County Roads Department before he retired eight years ago.
Dave served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam.
He loved spending time on the Missouri River fishing and camping. Dave was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 968, American Legion Post No. 8, and Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Romana Gress of Nebraska City; son, Doug Gress and wife Stacy of Stafford, VA; daughter, Donnette Hoyle and husband Todd of Nebraska City; step children, Ben Shirley and wife Rachel of Gypsum, CO, Brad Shirley of Nebraska City, Anne Bohl and husband Kirby of Nebraska City; grandchildren, Alexis Gress, Brittany Gress, Kenzi Hoyle, Madison Hoyle, Carter Hoyle, CJ Shirley, Zayden Bohl and Ali Bohl; brothers, Chris Gress and Eric Gress, both of Nebraska City; sister in law, Connie Gress of Nebraska City; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert “Bob” Gress Jr. and niece, ReDeana Ruby
Visitations will be 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
Private inurnment will take place at the Omaha National Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Memorial Building Fund.
