Joshua Blake Hotsenpillar, age 31, of Lincoln, formerly of Nebraska City, died July 22, 2019, at Bryan LGH East Medical Center in Lincoln.  
Josh was born Dec. 17, 1987, in Greenville, Texas, the son of Jeffery Lynn and Sarah Genelle (Nannen) Hotsenpillar.  
He married the love of his life, Valerie Christine Raffety June 15, 2019, in Lincoln.  
Josh grew up in Nebraska City and graduated from Nebraska City High School in 2007.  
He moved to Lincoln in 2018 and had been working as a security guard to Menard’s.
Josh was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ and was an Eagle Scout.  
He was active in baseball, wrestling and was a softball umpire.  
He loved the Huskers,  Packers and Yankees and attending concerts.  
Josh was a very caring and giving person and a protector.  
He loved to spend time with family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Hotsenpillar of Lincoln; parents, Jeffrey (Theresa Owings) Hotsenpillar of Nebraska City; Sarah (Timothy Bollinger) Hotsenpillar of Tekamah; sister, Anna (Amanda Wilson) Hotsenpillar of Nebraska City; grandmother, Kay Nannen of Nebraska City; mother in law, Joan Raffety of Lincoln; sister in law and brother in law, Mandy and Adam Rettig of Lincoln; nephews, Tadan Cooper and Bricen Cooper; aunts, Amanda (Cathy) Nannen of Omaha and Lydia Nannen of Nebraska City; uncles, Jerry (Wanda) Hotsenpillar of Wheaton, Mo.; Mark (Phyllis) Hotsenpillar of Nebraska City; Chris (Lisa) Hotsenpillar of Lincoln, Ala.; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gene Nannen and Jack and Patricia Hotsenpillar; cousin, Jeremy Hotsenpillar and uncle, Nathan Nannen.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City with burial in Wyuka Cemetery.
Visitations will be 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
