Jack L. Spidell, age 73, of Nebraska City, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln.
Jack was born on July 31, 1945, in Nebraska City; the son of John Aaron and Evelyn Margaret (Harl) Spidell.  
He attended school in Nebraska City and later entered the U.S. Navy on June 6, 1963, with service on the USS Kitty Hawk.  
He was honorably discharged on March 11, 1964.
He was united in marriage to Kathleen Marie Sheridan on Sept. 30, 1967, in Nebraska City.
She preceded him in death on March 11, 2011.  Jack worked at various jobs over the years, including doing painting, welding and other odd jobs.  Most recently, he worked at Mary’s Café for some 15 years.
 Jack is survived by his children:  Sheri M. McCall of Auburn, Michael P. Speer of Omaha, Brian L. Spidell and friend Leslie Shutz of Glenshaw, Pa., Sandra L. Spidell of Nebraska City and Laura J. Reese and husband Dave of Nebraska City; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Starner of Nebraska City; other family and many friends.
 In addition to his wife, Jack was preceded in death by a daughter Evelyn Louise “Ev” Spidell on Feb. 6, 2005, grandson Justin McCall on July 15, 2013, and brother Jim Spidell on Aug. 25, 1962.
 A Memorial Service was to be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.
Inurnment was to be in Wyuka Cemetery.
