Loretta Agnes (Gergen) Davis, 82, of Nebraska City, Nebraska passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at The Monarch in Lincoln.
She was born Feb. 19, 1936, to William and Marie (Grote) Gergen on the family farm, rural Shickley.
Loretta was the youngest of 10 children. Her father passed away when she was 7 years old and her mother raised her and her siblings on the family farm.  
She graduated from Geneva High School in 1952 at the age of 16. Loretta started college late in life, graduating from Peru State College in 1974 with B.S. in Education and receiving her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska in 1988.
On May 23, 1959 she married Roger Davis at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, rural Shickley. To this union three children were born; Carol Ann, John Charles and Joseph William.  
Loretta and Roger lived their 43 years of marriage in Nebraska City.  
Roger passed away on Nov. 7, 2002.  Loretta was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Nebraska City.
Loretta loved to play Bridge and Pinochle, crocheting, playing the piano, organ, singing and gardening. In her younger years she enjoyed playing golf on a league in Nebraska City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie, husband Roger, grandson, Bret Dahmke, sisters, Dorothy Steube and Theresa Reinsch and brothers, infant brother, Paul, Irvin, Father Charles, Jerome and Clement Gergen.
Loretta is survived by her children, Carol (Mitch) Dahmke of Louisville, Ky., John Davis of Nebraska City, Joe (Nancy) Davis of Pawnee City, grandchildren, Ashley (Robert) Erwin of Louisville, Ky., Chris (Jennifer) Dahmke of Louisville, Ky., Jessica Dahmke ( wife of the late Bret Dahmke) of East Bernstadt, Ky., Hannah Davis of Lincoln, Andrew Davis of Lincoln, great grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler Erwin of Louisville, Ky., Noah Dahmke of East Bernstadt, Ky., Sophia Dahmke of Louisville, Ky., sisters, Sr. Marionita Gergen of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Florence Dondlinger of Fairmont, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Funeral Mass was to be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva with Father Harlan Waskowiak and Father Michael Gergen officiating.
Visitation was to be Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 1-8 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Home 1109 1st Corso Nebraska City and also one hour before service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva.
Interment  was to be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery (Turkey Creek) rural Shickley.
