Anna Mae (Rumbaugh) Peterson, age 82, of Nebraska City passed away on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, after a prolonged illness.
Anna was born on May 18, 1936, in Howe, the daughter of Everett and Anna (Wheeler) Rumbaugh. She attended country school near Howe for grades K – 8 and attended Auburn High School for grades 9 – 12, graduating with the class of 1954.
On Jan. 8, 1956, Anna was united in marriage to Roger L. Peterson in Howe. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City.
Anna worked at various jobs over the years including co-owner with husband, Roger, of The Villager restaurant, a Welcome Wagon Representative, Director of W.O.T.A., Bank Teller at Otoe Co. National Bank, co-owner with husband, Roger, of Sears Catalog Sales Merchant Store, and retired from Time Warner Cable.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and wintering in San Benito, Texas.
Her hobbies included collecting recipes and cooking. She loved to try new recipes.
Anna is survived by her husband of 63 years, Roger L. Peterson of Nebraska City, children: Debra Kemper and husband Mark, Angela Purdy and husband Randy, Louie Peterson and wife Solie, all of Nebraska City; eight grandchildren: Josh Long, Jason Long, Julie Long, Michelle Purdy, Ashley Purdy, Roger Peterson, Christy Peterson, and Raquel Ojeda; twelve great grandchildren; siblings: sister, Norma Apple and brother, Melvin (Buzz) Rumbaugh and wife Norma Jean; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her father, Everett and mother, Anna; brother, Harold Rumbaugh; and sister, Madelyn Musick.
Funeral Services was to be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Rev. Dr. Charles Kathurima M. and Chaplain Richard Bristol officiating. Burial was to follow in the Wyuka Cemetery. There was to be no viewing or visitation.
