Dwaine A. Ross, age 85 of Nebraska City passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at the Ambassador in Nebraska City.
Dwaine Allen Ross was born on Feb. 16, 1933, in Otoe; the son of Louis Herman and Clara (Homfeld) Ross.  
He graduated from the Dunbar High School with the Class of 1951.
Dwaine had a love for the game of baseball.  He was a very good pitcher and had been made an offer to pitch for the Detroit Tigers.  On April 22, 1953 he entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged on April 9, 1955. Upon returning home, he was united in marriage to Dona B. Hemphill on May 8, 1955 at the First Christian Church in Nebraska City.
He farmed for many years, working for Biere Farms, and was the Manager at Hoppe Lumber and Mead Lumber. Dwaine was also an Auctioneer and owned Ross Auctioneer Company.  He was very active in the Nebraska City community.  He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Jaycees and the Elks.  In addition, Dwaine umpired for the American Legion and was a Bus Driver for Nebraska City Public Schools.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years, Dona Ross of Nebraska City; two children:  Kevin Ross of Nebr. City and Dawn Varner and husband Richard of Omaha; six grandchildren:  Kevin R. Ross, Jeremy Ross, Corey Ross, Amanda Nichols, Aimee Nichols and Kendall Nichols; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dale Ross and infant brother John and granddaughter Kelsie.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at the First Christian Church in Nebraska City with Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating.
Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church.
