Heaven just got better. Barbara Lee (Payne) Dixon was born on June 2, 1929, in Hamburg, on the family farm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; M.M. Payne Jr. and Dorothy Barbara Payne, and her brothers; M.M. Payne III and Richard Payne.
Barbara was educated in the Hamburg schools.
She attended Lindenwood College for Women, earning an Associates Degree in Secretarial Science. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with a B.B.A. Degree.
Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and a Mimi.
She dearly loved her children: Steven, Katherine, Jeffrey, Kirk and Gregg.
Her pride and joys were her grandchildren: Christopher (CJ), Lindsey Lee, Jonathan, Lauren, Barbara (Paige), Austin and Troy, and great grandchildren; Trey, Kennedy, Jackson, Ava and Ayden.
Barbara was a member of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, Philanthropic Educational Organization, ( P.E.O.), Eastern Star, D.A.R., Women's League and Duplicate Bridge Clubs.
She enjoyed volunteering at Presbyterian Hospital, delivering flowers and cheering up patients on Wednesday mornings for 28 years.
Barbara also enjoyed reading, traveling, crossword puzzles and time spent with family and friends.
She loved her visits to her hometown for Popcorn Day and class reunions. Barbara gave of herself in many ways, volunteering through many organizations and spending time with people. She was loved by so many, which include family members Bob, husband of Kathi; Kirk's wife Susan; Gregg's wife, Angi; CJ's wife Amanda; Lindsey's husband, Jonathan; Lauren's husband, Krys; Paige's husband, JJ; a host of nieces and nephews; and best friend, Marlene Tubbs.
We were so blessed to have her in our life. She was truly one of a kind and words cannot describe how much she will be missed.
Thanks Mom (and Mimi) for all you did for us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hamburg United Methodist Church, Hamburg Rescue Squad, or Grape Community Hospital Foundation
