Neal E. Shallenberger, age 68, of Nebraska City passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 at his home.
Neal Edward Shallenberger was born on June 15, 1949, in Nebraska City; the son of Edward Charles and Donna Viola (Cooper) Shallenberger.  
He grew up on a farm south of Nebraska City and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the class of 1967.  
He attended college at Peru State College and also served in the Nebraska Army National Guard.
On Sept. 26, 1975, Neal married Susan A. Barton in Nebraska City.  
He farmed around the Paul area until 1976 and then began his career with  Burlington Northern Railroad.
He is survived by his wife Susan Shallenberger of Nebraska City; children:  Travis Shallenberger of Nebraska City; Kimberly Patrick and husband Kyle of Elkhorn,  Aimee Shallenberger of Nebraska City and Eric Shallenberger and significant other Tara Warren of Nebraska City; seven grandchildren:  Newt and Shea Shallenberger; Kyra and Eli Patrick; Aaliyah, Gunner, and Ruger Shallenberger; brother Steve Shallenberger and wife Connie of Nebraska City; sister-in-law Kathy Shallenberger of Phillipsburg, Kan.; other family and friends.
Neal was preceded in death by his mom Donna on Nov. 7, 2002; his dad Edward on Aug. 2, 2004; brother Lynn on May 14, 2015, and an infant son Chad Shallenberger.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Glenrock Cemetery near Brock. Memorials are suggested to the family.
