Gary Mark Dankleff of Syracuse died at home with his family by his side on Oct. 12, 2017.
He was born to Lyle and Carol (Wallen) Dankleff on Sept. 9, 1955, in Syracuse and grew up in rural Avoca.
Gary graduated from Elmwood High School in 1973.
Gary married Rose Marie Hogancamp on March 30, 2001.
He farmed in Cass and Otoe Counties with his father and brother Greg for more than 30 years.
Upon retiring from farming, Gary spent 10 years as a Sales Associate at Scheel’s in Lincoln where he met many good friends.
Gary was an avid fisherman, a prolific storyteller and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends.
Gary and Rose spent much of the last few years camping at Swanson Lake in Trenton and formed many lasting friendships while there.
They were also blessed with the love and support of lifelong friends in Cass and Otoe Counties.
Gary is survived by his wife (Syracuse); daughter Rebecca Smith, her husband Bryan and grandchildren Ava, Olivia and Owen (Lawrence, Kan.); daughter Katie Pasniewski, her husband Tom and grandson Ryan (Lawrence, Kan.); stepdaughter Robin Maestle and her husband Joe (Syracuse), grandson Josh Maestle (Omaha), grandson Philip Wiens and his wife Makaela and great grandchildren Lana and Lydia (Omaha), granddaughter Sarah Wiens and her partner Andrew Stuart and great grandson Oliver (Bellevue), granddaughter Michaela Wiens (Omaha); stepdaughter Dawn Perrigo and her husband Glenn and grandchildren Danielle Roper, Amanda Lovelady, Nolan Lovelady, and Jared Lovelady (all Omaha); brother-in law Harvey Hogancamp and his wife Lisa (Omaha); sister-in-law Ruth Platt (Louisville), sister-in-law Patty Hogancamp (Lorton); as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Greg and brother-in-law Howard Hogancamp.
Funeral and burial services were to be on Monday, Oct. 16. Memorials may be directed to the family to benefit local community organizations.
