Melville Howard Crandell, age 94, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully, Friday, Aug. 25, 2017.
He was born in 1923 at his grandfather Richard Grant Crandell’s ranch south of Hay Springs, and was a recent resident of Bella Vista, Ark.
He attended Sunnyside and Orchid Hill Country Schools north of Unadilla and spent the majority of his life farming and raising cattle on the Unadilla family farm.  
Melville Howard was a proud Veteran who served our country in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid amateur radio operator.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Melville Earl and Buena L. Crandell.
Howard is survived by his loving children, Linda Crandell Armstrong and son-in-law Terry Armstrong, Roger Crandell and daughter-in-law Patricia Crandell and Betty Crandell. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Michelle Harlow and Mathew Crandell and three great grandchildren Callie, Benjamin and Hailey. Howard will be greatly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
 Family and friends will gather  at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Unadilla Cemetery in Otoe County where a brief graveside Celebration of Howard’s Life and Interment will follow.  There will be no viewing or visitations.
