Rosa Frances Cole, age 92 of Madison, formerly of Nebraska City died Aug. 28, 2017, at Countryside Home in Madison.  
Rosa was born March 24, 1925, in Nebraska City, the daughter of William J. and Flora L. (Simms) Birtwell. She graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1942 and received her secretarial degree from the Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada.  
Rosa married Martin Roy Cole March 5, 1960, at the First Baptist Church in Nebraska City.  
Rosa and her husband farmed together until Roy’s retirement in the late 1980’s.  
She formerly worked at Back to the Bible Broadcast in Lincoln, but also worked at the Nebraska City News-Press, F.W. Woolworth’s, J.C. Penney Store and Jean Heaven, all in Nebraska City. Rosa served on the Maple Grove School District 31 Board and was a life time member of First Baptist Church where she was very active and involved.  
She was an avid Husker fan and loved knitting, word search games and spending time with family.  
Survivors include her son, Wayne Cole and wife Renee, grandson Bridger and granddaughter Hadli of Norfolk; granddaughter, Alicia Brislawn and husband James, great grandsons, Carter and Julian of Urbana, Iowa; granddaughter, Lindsey Cole and friend, Evan Franck of Walker, Iowa; niece, Denise (Birtwell) Sterling and husband Rodger of Wayne, Mich., and children and grandchildren; niece, Louise (Birtwell) Golles and husband John of Livonia, Mich., and children and grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.  
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Melvin Birtwell and wife, Merline of Lexington, Mich.
Funeral services were to be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at First Baptist Church in Nebraska City with burial in Camp Creek Cemetery south of Nebraska City.
Visitations were to be 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church.
