Raye Ann Cartoni was born in Hamburg, on July 28, 1945; the daughter of Ralph and Ruth (Givens) Thiessen.
She was born two months after her father, Captain Ralph Thiessen, a WWII fighter pilot, was killed in a plane crash.  Raye Ann was raised by her mother and aunts.
Her mother, Ruth, later met and married John Lehr in Nebraska City when Raye Ann was five; at which time she was adopted by John.
They lived in Indiana, and Southern California, where her brother John and sister Terri were born.
The Lehr family ultimately settled in Santa Clara, Calif.
Raye Ann graduated from nearby Cupertino High School in 1963.
She worked in medical records for several health care providers and then later worked for Harrah's Casino in Reno, Nev., for a year as a Keno writer.
After two previous marriages, she married Jim Cartoni on Dec. 10, 1982.
They were happily married until her death.
Although she suffered from the effects of Lupus for over 30 years, Parkinson's Disease, and COPD for the last 15 years of her life, she was always willing to help others near and far.
She was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since May of 2000.  She lived her life with exceptional humor, courage, wisdom, authenticity, and grace.
Raye Ann is survived by her husband Jim, her sister Terri Lehr, her brother John Lehr and wife Trang, and their daughter Nina, as well as many cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Raye Ann fulfilled her wish of being clean and sober until the day she died.
May God bless her.
