Ernest E. Rink, age 92, of Elkhorn, (formerly Nebraska City) passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.
Ernest Earl Rink was born on Sept. 3, 1924 in Constance, Minn.; the son of Emil and Muriel (Black) Rink. His family later moved to Nebraska City where he grew up and attended school.  
He graduated from Nebraska City High School with the class of 1942.  
He then attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, N.D., and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he studied electrical engineering.
Ernest entered the United States Navy on June 18, 1942, and proudly served his country during WWII until his honorable discharge on Feb. 6, 1946.  
He was united in marriage to Geraldine E. Galvin on Aug. 30, 1952 in Harrisonville, Mo.  
Ernie worked in various locations in Sales and Service in the X Ray Industry.   
He was a member of the American Legion Post 8 in Nebraska City, the V.F.W. and he also served on the Kregel Windmill Board.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Gerry Rink of Elkhorn; two daughters:  Cynthia Rink of Omaha, and Linda Anderson of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren:  Eric, Andrew and Sarah Bugajny of Omaha, and Troy and Tracy Bearl of Minneapolis, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson; two nieces:  Frances Moyer of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Barbara Boschert of Monroe City, Mo.; other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Larry Rink; two brothers:  Charles and Frank Rink and one sister Dorothy Higgins.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Michael Schmidt officiating.  
Burial will follow the services at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City with Military Honors conducted by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Detail.
