Marcia Kay Mather, age 71 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at her home.

She was born on November 25, 1944 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Walter Lee “Pete” and Hazel Lorraine (Dilley) Weddle.  Growing up, she attended school at Lourdes Central Catholic and at Nebraska City High School.

She married Wilber Dean Barrett in 1961 at Nebraska City, NE.  She was later united in marriage to Duane Eldon “Rusty” Mather on July 2, 1987 in Oregon, MO.

After high school, she worked at various nursing homes including Ruby’s Nursing Home in Auburn, NE,  Duff’s Nursing Home and Nebraska City Manor.  She later began her career at American Meter in Nebr. City, where she worked for 35 years before retiring.  She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Nebr. City and the Womens Pioneer #1 Bowling League.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children:  Curtis Barrett of Otoe, NE; Scott Barrett of Omaha, NE; Anthony Barrett and wife Karen of Nebr. City; Bret Mather and wife Diane of Keota, IA; Todd Mather of Auburn, NE; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; siblings:  Janice Neeman of Nebr. City, NE; John Michael Weddle of Lincoln, NE; Jerry Weddle and wife Mary of Orlando, FL; Robert Weddle and wife Jody of Nebr. City, NE; Chris Weddle and wife Deb of Nebr. City, NE; step-siblings:  Roxie Hansen of Nebr. City, NE; Rick Hansen and wife Cindy of Nebr. City, NE; Ron Hansen and partner John Davison of Ralston, NE and Renee Farley and husband Rick of Lincoln, NE; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Rusty Mather on February 8, 2012.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Fr. Michael McCabe officiating.  Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday (11/27) at the mortuary.
