The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to have Oberlin & Harkness present their show, “Lush Life: Billy Strayhorn.”
You will hear both prominent Strayhorn standards like “Take the A Train,” “Lush Life,” and “Something to Live For,” along with rare works written for the Ellington Orchestra, films, concerts, and shows…all presented with the signature heart, grace, and humor of Oberlin & Harkness.
It’s sure to be a show you don’t want to miss. They will perform in cabaret on Friday and Saturday, August 9th & 10th at 7:30pm and in concert on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m.

As part of that mission, Oberlin & Harkness have graciously committed to perform a mini-concert for the Rose Blumpkin Jewish Home in Omaha on August 8th at 2:00pm.
Karen Oberlin was the recipient of the Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Donald F. Smith Award for Excellence in Cabaret.
She has also received an honorary doctorate in music and the Nightlife Award for Jazz Vocalist of the Year along with a Bistro Award, a BroadwayWorld Award and multiple MAC Awards.
The New York Times called her most recent show “excellently researched and beautifully executed” and she has headlined such New York clubs as 54 Below, the Café Carlyle, Kitano, Birdland and the Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, along with major nightclubs and concert halls in New York, throughout the U.S. and Europe (including annual engagements at London’s Crazy Coqs).
She has four albums on the Miranda Music label with another on the way.
International guitar artist Sean Harkness is in high demand as a performer/composer on solo guitar, and accompanies an astonishing array of world class vocalists, musicians, and ensembles. Sean’s multiple awards include the coveted MAC, Bistro, and awards.
Harkness represents Washburn guitars and DR Strings, and has eight commercial releases as an artist, many on Windham Hill Records [BMG/RCA/ Sony]. Sean has an active international touring schedule – most recently including Africa, the Caribbean, and Japan – of concerts, clubs, festivals, corporate events, and intimate private home salons or fundraisers.
A musician’s musician of exceptional versatility, Sean is often requested to teach Guitar Master Classes and music workshops.
