It’s official: Arbor Day 2019 will be Friday, April 26, in Nebraska City.
Nebraska City Mayor Bryan Bequette read an Arbor Day proclamation during the Monday, April 1, Nebraska City City Council meeting.

Council members addressed several other Arbor Day-related matters during Monday’s meeting.
The council approved a request from Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce to use the sunken parking lot on April 23 for the Keep Nebraska City Beautiful Arbor Day Clean-up.
Council members also approved street closures pertaining to Arbor Day parade lineup and the parade route down Central Avenue on Saturday, April 27.
The council also approved the use of Central Avenue between 6th and 9th streets for the Arbor Day Bed Races immediately following the parade on April 27.
In other matters, the council
Approved a tobacco license application for Central Avenue Smoke Shop;
Passed Ordinances 3031-19 and 3032-19 for electric and natural gas rate adjustments; and
Approved a request from the Nebraska City Jaycees to use the small and middle ball diamonds in Steinhart Park for an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 20.
The next regular Nebraska City City Council meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, April 15, at City Hall, 1409 Central Ave.
