The Otoe County Roads Department will be getting a new rock truck and trailer soon.
The Otoe County Board of Commissioners awarded a bid for $125,564 for a Mack P164T semi tractor and a bid for $48,085  for a R WAY 25.0 cubic-yard rock/ gravel trailer at their Feb. 12 meeting.
Both bids were from RDO Truck Center.
The new trailer is expected to increase the hauling capacity of rock for the county road department to about 29 tons, said Otoe County Highway Superintendent Jon Brinkman.
Board members authorized chairman Jerad Sornson to sign two County Bridge Match Program agreements with the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
The first will remove an existing bridge south and 2.2 miles west of Palmyra at stream and replace it with a concrete bridge.
The second will remove existing bridges .05 mile west and 2.6 miles north of Douglas at stream  and 2 miles north and 3.5 miles west of Douglas at stream and replace them with culverts.
Board members also agreed to provide a preliminary letter of financial support for fiscal 2019-2020 to the Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Otoe County Board of Commissioners is set for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Otoe County Courthouse.
