Richard Gathercole will stand trail will stand trial on charges which include the robbery of the First Nebraska Bank in Nebraska City.
The man accused of being the AK-47 Bandit will stand trial in federal court on March 25 for a series of bank robbies, including one in Nebraska City.
Richard Gathercole, 40, appeared in federal court Tuesday, Jan. 15, in Lincoln. He had asked U.S. Magistrate Judge Cheryl Zwart for a new court-appointed attorney and more time to prepare for trial.
Zwart denied the request for new counsel and set the trial date.
Gathercole was arrested in June 2017 near Lexington. He is accused of robbing banks in Iowa, California, Idaho and Washington in addition to the $90,000 First Nebraska Bank robbery in August 2014.
