Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) have arrested one man following a brief pursuit in La Vista Thursday evening.
At approximately, 6:10 p.m. a trooper observed a southbound Oldsmobile Alero speeding on 72nd street near Harrison. The vehicle also failed to stop at a stop sign. When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled southbound with speeds approaching 70 miles per hour.
After less than a minute, the vehicle crossed into oncoming lanes and struck at least one other vehicle at the intersection of 72nd and Giles. Two people from the bystander vehicle were injured and have been transported to Bergan Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the suspect vehicle was taken into custody immediately with the assistance of officers from other agencies that had arrived on the scene. The driver, Robert Ragland, 21, of Omaha, was transported to CHI Health Midlands in Papillion to get checked out. Charges are pending.
NSP has asked the Papillion Police Department to conduct the investigation into the crash.
