The Otoe County Attorney's Office was recently recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Defense for its employee support of National Guard members.

Two representatives of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Program surprised Otoe County Attorney David Partsch with the presentation at his office Wednesday morning.

The award recognized Partsch and his office as a Patriotic Employer and acknowledged the efforts of civilian employees who step up and assume additional responsibilities when a co-worker is called up for Guard or Reserve service.

Otoe County Deputy Attorney Sarah Gyhra, who is also a member of the Nebraska National Guard, nominated Partsch for the award.

Gyhra is currently on leave from the attorney's office while she pursues further training with the National Guard and the Judge Advocate General's office. She will return to the Otoe County Attorney's Office in early September.

“We appreciate her participating in the military,” said Partsch. “This experience will make her a more well-rounded attorney with greater experience.”
