The Nebraska City High School Alumni Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Grants and Scholarships. The Foundation is able to give out $61,000 in scholarships and grants due to our gracious donors.The grant winners, donors and honor class of 1968 will be recognized at our annual banquet on May 26, 2018. The New Alumni Foundation building is a work in progress and will be open to the public on May 26 from 1-3 p.m. for you to view the progress.
Stephen Conner will be awarded a Wallace & Caryl Giles Memorial Grant. Stephen is the son of Robert and Pamela Conner. He is attending MidAmerica Nazarene University studying Kinesiology with the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist.
Lacey Rasmussen Glasford will also receive a Wallace & Caryl Giles Memorial Grant. Lacey is the wife of Brandon Glasford. She is attending University of Nebraska-Omaha getting her Master’s Degree in Political Science.
Loren Steinman will also receive a Wallace & Caryl Giles Memorial Grant. Loren is the son of Daryl and Laura Steinman. He is studying Bio Systems Engineering and Energy Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
JoVanna Balquier is the daughter of Fernando Balquier and Tammy Keene. She will be awarded an Edward Volkmer Memorial Grant to get her Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Kendra McGinnis, daughter of Tim and Katie McGinnis will also be awarded an Edward Volkmer Memorial Grant. She is attending Northwestern College studying Public Relations and History.
Gavin Nielson will be awarded the Karl H. & Wealtha H. Nelson Memorial Grant. Gavin is the son of Deane and Rhonda Nielson and is attending Midland University studying Pre-Kindergarden-12 Music Education.
Abbie Marshall is the daughter of Dennis and Carol Marshall. She is attending Peru State College studying Business Administration Management. She will be awarded the Snyder/Wilcox Family Grant.
Damian Causgrove will be awarded the Class of 1960 Grant. Damian is the son of Matt and Christina Causgrove. He is attending the Peru State College majoring in Math and Math Education.
The George & Katherine Bischof memorial Grant will be awarded to Michelle Williamson Kaiser. She is the wife of Anthony Kaiser and is attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is studying 19th Century American History and Digital History.
The Allen Madsen Family Grant is awarded to John Stidd III. John is the son of John and Debra Stidd. He is attending Peru State College majoring in Elementary Education and receiving endorsements in coaching and K-3.
Ava Wetrosky will receive the Patrick Maas Memorial Grant. She is the daughter of David and Marsha Wetrosky. She is attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying Biology.
Joshua Martens will be awarded a Snyder/Wilcox Family Scholarship. Joshua is the son of Randy and JoAnn Martens. He will be attending Iowa Lakes Community College studying to be a Wind Turbine Technician.
Fadi Dia will also be awarded a Snyder/Wilcox Family Scholarship. He will be attending Southeast Community College studying Electronic Systems Technology. Fadi is the son of Khalil and Dana Dia.
The Mary Adams Givehand Scholarship is awarded to Sabrina Wampler. She is the daughter of Sandy Wampler and Douglas Wampler. Sabrina plans to attend Bryan College of Health Sciences majoring in Nursing.
The Don McGaffey Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to Nick Maddox. Nick is the son of Jeff and Carol Maddox. He plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Medicine.
The Doris McGaffey Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Chloe Higgins. She is the daughter of Stacie and the late Dion Higgins. Chloe plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and major in Economics.
Bree Bauer will be awarded a Wallace and Caryl Giles Memorial Scholarship. She is the daughter of Gregg Bauer and Sandra Brixey. Bree will be attending the University of Nebraska-Kearney majoring in Psychology.
Another Wallace and Caryl Giles Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to Shea Kinnison. She is the daughter of Scott and Shana Kinnison. Shea will be attending Peru State College or University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Elementary Education.
Jordan Kenter will be awarded the Frank M. Thomas Memorial Scholarship. Jordan is the son of David Kenter and Laura Kenter. He will be attending Bryan LGH majoring in Nursing.
Alexus Hansen is the daughter of Dale and Melissa Hansen. She will be awarded a Woolsey & Josephine Davis Memorial Scholarship. Alexus will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Biochemistry.
Katelyn Nielson will also be awarded a Woolsey & Josephine Davis Memorial Scholarship. Katelyn is the daughter of Deane and Rhonda Nielson. She will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln also majoring in Biochemistry.
Trinity Fox is the daughter of Alan and Debra Fox. She plans to attend the College of St. Mary majoring in Nursing and will be awarded the Stella Gump Memorial Scholarship.
Makensi Blum will be awarded the Wilma McIntire Memorial Scholarship. Makensi is the daughter of Kent and Stacy Blum. She will be attending Rockhurst University majoring in Biology.
Amanda Anderson will receive the Peru State College Scholarship. She will be attending college there majoring in Education. She is the daughter of Rob and Kristy Anderson.
This year there are seven Edward Volkmer Memorial Scholarships awarded. These are awarded to:
Allison Baker is the daughter of Sherry Baker and David Baker. Allison will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and majoring in Nutrition.
Daniel Barley is the son of Cliff and Sue Barley. Daniel will be attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering.
Cara Booth is the daughter of Brian Booth. Cara will be attending University of Nebraska-Omaha majoring in Chemistry.
Calie Koberstein is the daughter of Gary and Andrea Koberstein. Calie will be attending Bryan College of Health Sciences majoring in Nursing.
Rachelle Rice is the daughter of Robert and Christine Rice. Rachelle will be attending University of Nebraska-Omaha majoring in Business Administration.
Ashley Robinson is the daughter of Thomas and Cynthia Robinson. Ashley will be attending the University of Nebraska-Kearney and majoring in Psychology and Theatre
Aubrey Thurman daughter of Jim and Carol Thurman. She is undecided on her place of college and will major in the music/radio/TV/film field.
The 50 Year Honor Class of 1968 collected donations for a scholarship. Dylan Ramage will be awarded the Class of 1968 Scholarship. He will attend Kansas State University and major in Architecture. He is the son of Curtis and Kristina Ramage.
