Finding the edge you need to succeed can be a challenge.
Thanks to a new scholarship being offered by the Nebraska City Community Foundation, that challenge might not be as intimidating.
The job enhancement scholarship being offered by the foundation is one meant to help local people gain the skills they need to thrive at their job.

Area residents with a 68410 address could be eligible to receive financial assistance to take non-credit job enhancement classes at Southeast Community College in downtown Nebraska City.
And the scholarship is not based on income status.
Cindy Meyer of the Southeast Community College said prospective students need only to show that their participation in a class will enhance their skills for work.
If a prospective student’s application for the scholarship is accepted, it would cover 75 percent of tuition and fees.
Meyer said students come to the classes, get high quality instruction on everything from computer applications to leadership skills, then return to their place of employment fired up and ready to utilize what they’ve learned.
Meyer said the scholarship fits perfectly with the Nebraska City Community Foundation’s mission.
“The mission of the local foundation is to invest in people and this is perfect,” Meyer said.
Here’s a few of the details about the scholarship.
Interested parties should pick up an application from Southeast Community College and fill it out.
Applicants are informed three to five days before the start of their course if they have qualified.
Eligibility requirements are that the student reside in the 68410 area code, that they have a good standing at the college and that they have a strong personal need statement as to how taking this course will help them at their job.
Expectations of award recipients are that they remain in good standing with continued progress toward educational and career goals and that they consider sharing their story to promote the Southeast Community College Learning Center and its scholarship program.
The 25 percent of tuition balance will be due prior to the start of class.
