Several hundred people attended the Otoe BBQ and enjoyed activities and food Sept. 10.
For the third year in a row, the event has drawn people from surrounding communities to join Otoe residents for a family fun day.  Though there were several years without a BBQ, it has begun to grow again into something that’s anticipated by those who attend.
The entertainment highlight in 2016 was NoWear BMX riders out of Unadilla.  The amazing stunt team wowed the spectators with jumps, flips, and other high-flying riding action on their 9 and 6 foot ramps.  They gave two shows at the park (11 a.m. and 4 p.m.), and audiences thoroughly enjoyed their performances.
Other fun included a craft and vendor fair at the community center, kids’ afternoon games, lunch at the community center, and garage sales.
Children were invited to participate in the Little Tuggers Tractor Pull at 2 p.m., and later there were bounce houses, magic face painters, and balloon animals/hats by Jules the Clown.
For evening entertainment to go along with dinner, everyone enjoyed skits and music that brought more good ol’ fashioned family fun.
Organizers said the event was a big success, and they were pleased with the turnout.
