The public is invited to mark their calendars for a scary-good time and also raise some money for the Children’s Miracle Network at the end of October.

Hayward Elementary School fourth-grader Kadynce Mullins is hosting a citywide Halloween costume contest, bonfire and hayrack ride fundraiser for CMN Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fox Center, located at 424 Central Ave. The bonfire and hayrack ride will immediately follow the event.

The costume contest is open to all ages. It will be runway fashion and judged based on creativity and overall impression. Those who wish to enter the costume contest will be asked to pay a $5 entry fee. A variety of prizes will also be awarded.

For those interested in entering the costume contest, contact Brenna Mullins at (402) 209-7579 or message “Brenna Mathis Mullins” on Facebook no later than Oct. 8.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $3 and refreshments will be available. There will also be some vendors present and a piñata for children.
Hot dogs, marshmallows and S’mores will be served at the bonfire and hayrack ride, which will follow the costume contest and be held at the Apostolic Christian Ministries Church at 917 N. 16th St. The cost for the bonfire and hayrack ride is included in the admission price.

Kadence Mullins’ goal is to raise $500. All proceeds from the event will be donated to CMN.
