One of the smallest breeds on the show bench was the biggest winner at this year’s 4-H Rabbit Show at the Otoe County Fair.
Olivia Leonard’s Netherland Dwarf doe, Rose, was judged the overall champion rabbit. Leonard also won grand champion junior showman in her first year of showing rabbits in 4-H.
Twenty-three rabbits of various sizes and breeds were on display during the show on Saturday, July 30.
The show drew a small crowd to the Royal Arena for showmanship and breed competitions judged by Ken Majors.
Emma Porter won overall grand champion showman and grand champion senior showman with her 5-year-old Netherland Dwarf buck Chipper. This is the 10th year Porter has shown rabbits in 4-H.
Reserve champion senior showman Bobby Moser showed four rabbits during the show: a Mini Rex buck, two Mini Satin does and a Mini Satin buck.
One of his does, Snowy, was named overall reserve champion rabbit. Moser has been showing rabbits for seven years in 4-H.
Grand champion intermediate showman Sydney Wellsandt is in her fourth year of 4-H rabbit showing. She won with her Holland Lop, Ozzie.
Reserve champion intermediate showman was Alexis Rohlfs, and reserve champion junior showman was Katelynn Moser.
Clover Kids who took part in the show were Keegan Damme, Czandrya Morgan, Reagan Moser, and Aiden and Diego Velazco. They received trophies for their showmanship efforts.
