A Nebraska City woman was sentenced to 50 to 80 years in prison in Otoe County District Court Wednesday.
Shyanne N. Parrott, 18, pled guilty to the second-degree murder of Amber Shipley on July 5.
Shipley died in September 2015 after Parrott hit her with a pickup truck.
Parrott told the court that she “will be sorry the rest of my life” for her actions.
Judge Jeffrey Funke credited Parrott for beginning to take responsibility for her actions.
“Only today have I heard and seen some remorse and some appreciation of the pain you’ve caused,” he said.
Parrott will be eligible for parole in 25 years. She will also receive credit on her sentence for 311 days already served.
