Nebraska City’s 150th anniversary committee has some big plans for the upcoming state sesquicentennial celebration in 2017.
Committee member Erv Friesen updated the Nebraska City City Council on the group’s plans at the June 6 city council meeting.
Some of the ideas being explored by the committee are:

bringing the Spirit of Brownville riverboat from Brownville to Nebraska City for river cruises; sponsoring a traveling exhibit of the paintings done by artist Todd Williams of the 93 counties in Nebraska; sponsoring a Volksride trail project between Nebraska City and Brownville; hosting an Applejack Quilt Show; and serving as a site for a traveling exhibit from the Omaha Children’s Museum.

Committee members are Friesen, Jim Kuhn, Amy Allgood, Rasmus Thoegersen and Kelly Bequette.
The committee meets at the Keeping Room and encourages Nebraska City residents who are interested in being part of this project to join them.
