The Otoe County Mutual Aid Association will be holding its annual Training Day classes all day Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. at the Syracuse Fire Station in Syracuse.

OCMAA serves the citizens of Burr, Douglas, Dunbar, Nebraska City, Otoe, Palmyra, Syracuse, Talmage, Unadilla and rural Otoe County.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. and people need to bring their department-issued identification cards or driver’s licenses. Registration is $15 per person and lunch will be provided.

The following classes will be available during Training Day:

Railroading 101 - Union Pacific Railroad: This is the morning session and it is designed for emergency response personnel that might have contact with the railroad during a rail emergency, including derailments, grade crossing collisions or other events where responders and railroad personnel could interface. Association of American Railroads and the American Petroleum Institute Crude Oil by Rail: This is an afternoon session was put together by AAR and API to assist responders with appropriate actions for an event involving crude oil by rail. Basic foam operations - State Fire Marshal Training Division: This class will cover different types of foam used in the fire service, different types of foam applicators and systems and the different methods of applying foam. Full PPE/SCBA will be required for the hands-on portion. The SFMTD facial hair policy will be followed. People must register for this class at the Nebraska State Fire Marshal Web site at EMS, Mass Casualty Incident Management for Fire and Rescue Operations - Nebraska City and Syracuse Rescue: This class will cover basic MCI operations. Dispatch, response plans and guidelines will be covered. There will be a tabletop exercise in the morning and a hands-on drill at the Syracuse training site in the afternoon.
