Nancy Anna Smith

Nancy Anna Smith, of Sun City, AZ died on Sept. 8, 2022 from ovarian cancer after battling Alzheimer’s for the past five years. Nancy was born October 22, 1940 in Macedonia, IA, the daughter of Carl and Bernice (Osler) Plumer. Nancy married Chuck Smith August 23, 1964 in Carson, IA. She graduated from Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison, CO in 1962 and taught school Florence, CO for her entire career before she retired in 1993. Chuck and Nancy moved to Nebraska City, NE in 1996. Nancy loved traveling, golfing, reading, and sewing. She was a good friend and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and they all loved spending time with Grandma Nancy. Survivors include her husband, Chuck Smith; children, Carla Schneider, and Tonya (Miles) Van Hee; sonin- law, Greg Schneider; grandchildren, Annaliesa Schneider, Nolan Schneider, Curtis Schneider, Grant Schneider, Bryson Van Hee, and Jared Van Hee; and brother, Phil Plumer. Nancy is preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard Plumer and Paul Plumer. Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City. Lunch will follow at Pin High Golf Club at Table Creek Golf Course. Private family burial will take place in Wyuka Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
